Highlights From PLNs

       Throughout this semester, I have learned a great deal of important information. However; one of the topics or activities that I felt was particularly beneficial was the unit on PLNs. Often times, people assume that online networking such as: Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, or Instagram is just for social purposes. However; I learned that these tools can be immensely helpful for educational purposes as well. When discussing an important topic, you can utilize Twitter to have a group discussion, even though you all may be 5,000 miles away from your group mates. You can utilize Facebook to create an educational group in which you post notifications regarding deadlines or other various necessities. 

       The implication of technology in the classroom has opened so many doors when it comes to creating engaging environments. Students love going on the computers and learning new information. Creating a situation in which students can then go on computers, and communicate with others is even more beneficial. The students feel like they're using the PLNs for "fun" purposes, however; the main goals are educational. It truly is a "two birds, one stone" situation.
