First Post

Hello,

My name is Matthew Laude. I am currently a Special Education teacher in the Lincoln-Way District 210. I am currently in my 6th year there and will be moving into a new house this summer. I thoroughly enjoy working with my student population and am always looking for ways to get more technology into my classroom.

As you can tell from my basic skills of this post, bogs are still very new to me. I believe that students are becoming more and more dependent on technology and I feel as teachers we must do our best to keep up with the times. This will help us give our students the best possible learning experience.

I am very excited to be learning new technological practices in this class, and am eager to bounce ideas off my peers to get real life feedback from educators that have used various techniques in their own classroom. Next year I will be teaching 3 sections of Algebra II, so I am excited to learn about various techniques I can learn to implement in the classroom.

Thanks,

ML

  1. Hi Matt -

My blogging skills are rudimentary, at best. Like you - I am excited to learn from our virtual colleagues in class! We have been 1:1 for a few years now, our Mathematics teachers were apprehensive at first but

  2. Hi Matt!

My first blog as well. I find that I am nervous whenever I write something for a large group to see. However, since I expect my students to write for large audiences, this will be a good experience for me.

  3. Hi Matt:

I do feel that we are always trying to keep up with our students in regards to technology. I have been a high school math teacher for 15 years and there are a lot of web tools that you can use with your Algebra II students. The main thing is trying not to become too "stagnant" with only using one so it does not lose its effectiveness with the students.

    Thanks for sharing.

  4. Hi Matt,

I was nervous about my first blog post too. It does get easier when you get more comfortable with it. I teach 8th grade Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and our RtI math course. It's great to have more math teachers to learn from and with regarding resources and ways to implement technology. Finding a balance with technology and math practice is what my students always ask for because some like using their device while others still like worksheets. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Hi Matt,

I am nervous about blogging for the first time as well! I believe we just finished another St. Francis class together. I am looking forward to continuing to learn from you and alongside you!

  6. Welcome to our course on multimedia, Matt! Are you still teaching math course as part of being a sped teacher? I hope you gain some great resources in this class that will allow you and your students to explore the content and tech in new ways. Thanks, Matt! Lea
